Bible Notes: Mark 1:16-20

As He was passing along by the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew, Simon's brother. They were casting a net into the sea, since they were fishermen. "Follow Me," Jesus told them, "and I will make you fish for people!" Immediately they left their nets and followed Him. Going on a little farther, He saw James the son of Zebedee and his brother John. They were in their boat mending their nets. Immediately He called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed Him.

Think about it for a minute. You are working hard with your business, one that is in the family, then a random stranger walks by. He looks at you, and then says, "Hey! Follow me!" What would you do? Me? I'd probably say something like, "Huh? What? Why?" Especially since I'd be very focused on my work. He'd be an interruption to me. I can only pray that God helps me be like Simon, Andrew, James, and John. They took one look at this random stranger, and they knew he was their future, hope, and savior. Maybe not consciously, but they knew who they were looking at. And they dropped everything for him. Heck, Simon was married, maybe the others as well. And they still dropped everything.
